NWH610 is recognized as PCMCIA-MTD-0002 on some Compaq notebooks

QUESTION:

When I tried to install the NWH610 (High Rate NDC PC Card) wireless card into my Compaq laptop, system recognized the card as "PCMCIA-MTD-0002" and the installation was failed.

What should I do now?

ANSWER:

This problem was found on some Compaq laptops using the Phoenix BIOS, which creates a hardware conflict problem.  To resolve this issue, disable the Sound Blaster setting in the Phoenix BIOS, but do not disable Onboard PCI Audio in the Phoenix BIOS.
