SUBJECT:
NWH610 (3.3V) can't run under NT4.0
QUESTION:
I install your NWH610 (3.3V) 11M NDC wireless
PC card
under Windows NT 4.0. There is no any problem while installing
the
driver. But the PC Card can't work after the driver installation.
I also reinstall Microsoft's SP5, but it still doesn't
work.
Could you tell me what to do with the problem ?
ANSWER:
In some laptops, the PC Card controller might incorrectly
increase the voltage of 3.3-volt PC Cards to 5 volts.
This
problem occurs because the driver for the Windows NT 4.0
PC Card
controller does not handle the voltage levels for PC Cards
correctly. It's a known issue in the NT 4.0 system. This
problem is related to NT, PC Card Controller, laptops
and the
3.3V only PC card. There are two methods to resolve your
problem:
1. Try 3rd party PC card/socket service software to upgrade
the PCMCIA
sub-system of your NT4.0 operating system:
CardWizard http://www.systemsoft.com
CardWare http://www.unicore.com/
2. Use 5V NWH610 instead of 3.3V NWH610.
