QUESTION:
How to use 22Mbps Wireless Cardbus Adapter (NWH1022)
to connect NWH660 with WEP?
ANSWER:
NWH1022 supports the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) settings
that are used on the network. WEP increases network security
by encrypting transmissions on the basis of a “key”
known only to authorized users. A key can be 64, 128,
or 256 bits long. (A 64-bit key is sometimes called a
“40-bit” key.) 256-bit keys can be used only
with wireless devices from the same product family as
your adapter.
Step 1. Open desktop’s Start menu,
choose Programs>NDC>Management System,
and then click NDC Management System.

Step 2. NDC Management System
window will appear, right-click NWH660 device you want
to configure. Then click Config.

Step 3. Config window will appear. Click
Encryption tab, click Method’s
combo box, choose WEP: Enable, Authentication:
Both.
Step 4. Change Key Length to 40bit WEP
(A 40-bit key is sometimes called a “64-bit”
key, too.)

Step 5. Type “1111111111” (10digits in Hex)
into Key 1 box, “2222222222”
into Key2 box, “3333333333”
into Key3 box, “4444444444”
into Key4 box. Then click OK button.

Step 6. A Warning message will be shown
to remind you to wait a few seconds after it takes effect.
Click Yes to continue.

Step 7. Execute Wireless Adapter utility
on wireless client. Click Site Survey
tab and double click the NWH660’s SSID you configured
above to make a connection.
Step 8. Profile window will appear.
Change Method combo box to 64-Bit.
Step 9. Change Auth Mode combo box to
Auto.
Step 10. Check Key Input Method in Hex.
Type “1111111111” in Key 1
box, “2222222222” in Key 2
box, “3333333333” in Key 3
box, “4444444444” in Key 4
box. Click OK.
Step 11. Confirm window will appear.
Click Yes to continue.
Step 12. Click Information tab, you
can see the connection is working properly
