QUESTION:
How to manage 22Mbps Wireless AP that supports 4X mode?
I find a Kick Start software in the package, but how to
use it to manage the AP?
ANSWER:
Recent-model and upgraded 22Mbps Wireless AP supports
4X mode and offers a Web-based interface that allows all
configuration and management functions to be carried out
through almost any up-to-date World Wide Web (WWW) browser.
The browser must support JavaScript, and the AP must be
pre-configured with valid and known IP settings.
The Kick Start software is a useful tool to assist you
in starting up the Web interface to manage your 22Mbps
Wireless AP.
The factory-set default IP address of the 22Mbps Wireless
AP is a private IP address of 192.168.0.1 with an address
mask of 255.255.0.0. If your management station is within
the same LAN (the same subnet mask), please start the
browser, type http://192.168.0.1 into
the browser’s Location (or URL or Go To) box, and
press Ether key to connect and manage the AP.
Otherwise, you can use Kick Start software to search and
connect the AP by using the following steps:
Step 1. Open Start > Programs > WLAN > KickStart
> KickStart and click Next button.
Step 2. After a few seconds all Kick Start-compatible
(4X mode supported) 22Mbps Wireless APs on the network
will appear. Select the AP you want to manage and click
Next button.
Step 3. If the selected AP is on a different TCP/IP subnet
from your management station, the Set IP
window will open to let you manual assign the AP’s
IP configuration:
The AP’s factory-set password for Set IP function
is the five-letter string admin.
Step 4. Click Finish button to start
the Web interface (system-default browser) to connect
and manage the selected Wireless AP.
Step 5. You will be prompted to enter a username and
password:
Notice: The factory-set username and
password is the five-letter string admin
for Admin Mode, which is the normal Web-based
management interface. No password is set at the factory
for User Mode, which allows non-administrators
to view information about the AP without danger of them
changing AP settings; simply click OK
button to bring up the User Mode main page.

Step 6. After confirm your input by clicking OK
button, the Admin Mode main page of the Web-based management
interface will appear:

Step 7. To bridge up a panel for configuring AP settings,
click a link (Wireless, WEP, IP, etc.)
in the main page’s left-hand panel. After finishing
configuration, click Save button to send
the displayed settings to the AP. Your browser may display
a security warning every time information is sent to the
AP.

Step 8. If you do not wish to configure other items, click
Restart link in the main page’s
left-hand panel to open Save and Restart panel, and click
Restart button to take the AP’s
settings effect.
Step 9. Click Brief link under Status
in the main page’s left-hand panel to view information
about the AP and its current basic settings.
