SUBJECT:
The NDC WMS utility cannot detect an NDC
WWB (NWH6210) or WEC Pro (NWH2610).
QUESTION:
I cannot discovery my WWB (NWH6210) using WMS utility.
I cannot discovery my WEC Pro (NWH2610) using WMS utility.
ANSWER:
1. Please make sure the WWB (NWH6210) or WEC Pro (NWH2610)
is powered on and connected to the Ethernet network.
2. Check the IP addresses assigned to the WWB/WEC Pro
and to the WMS terminal PC, which is used to run WMS
utility to discovery the WWB/WEC Pro. They should be in
the same subnet and unique.
For example, if the WWB's/WEC Pro's IP address is 192.168.1.5
with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the PC's IP
address should be 192.168.1.x with a mask of 255.255.255.0.
3. If you forgot the IP address of the WWB/WEC Pro, please
press Reset button on the real panel of WWB/WEC Pro over
5 seconds to reboot it and load the factory default settings.
The factory default setting of the WWB/WEC Pro is used
'Obtain an IP address automatically' for its IP address.
4. If there is no DHCP server in your Ethernet network
or the WWB/WEC Pro cannot get an IP address from a DHCP
server, the WWB/WEC Pro will auto-assign an IP address
of 169.254.x.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. A Windows
OS PC originally configured as a DHCP client will follow
the same algorithm to assign itself an Auto-IP address
in the same subnet.
At this time, please renew the IP settings of your PC
to be the same as the WWB/WEC Pro, otherwise Windows may
continue to use the previous IP address instead of executing
the Auto-IP procedure.
Note: The way to renew the IP settings of Windows OS PC:
(1) Windows 98/ME
Step 1. Click Start/Run, type "winipcfg", and
click <OK>. The IP Configuration dialog box will
open.
Step 2. Select the network adapter you use to connect
to the WWB/WEC Pro or Ethernet work. Click <Release>.
Step 3. Click <Renew> to retrieve a new IP address,
subnet mask, and default gateway address. Click <OK>
to save the changes and exit the program.
(2) Windows NT 4.0
Step 1. Click Start/Programs/Command Prompt. Type "ipconfig
/release" and press Enter key.
Step 2. Type "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter
key to retrieve a new IP address, subnet mask, and default
gateway address.
Step 3. Type "Exit".
(3) Windows 2000/XP
