SUBJECT:
Can I connect NDC WEC with other vendor’s
Access point?
QUESTION:
Can I connect NDC WEC with other vendor’s
Access point?
ANSWER:
NDC WEC Pro NWH2610 works with NDC NWH660
access point only, so it is not compatible with other
vendors' access point. However, NDC WEC NWH2210
is compatible with any IEEE802.11b standard access points.
If you want to connect NWH2210 WEC with other vendor’s
AP, please notice the following items:
1. Encryption WEP Keys
- Because the access point is not NDC product,
you cannot use "Passphrase" option of WEC Utility
to generate the WEP Keys. You should manual enter the
WEP Key with 0~9 and a~f characters one by one in Encryption
function and make sure the WEP Key is fully the same as
the one of access point.
2. Encryption Authentication modes
- When the encryption is enabled, the "Authentication
Mode" parameter, supported by Access Point and wireless
station, controls the validation of the WEP Key.
- NWH2210 WEC supports three kinds of Authentication
mode: Open system mode, Share key mode and Auto Switch
mode. The default setting of NWH2210 WEC is Open system.
- If other vendor’s AP doesn't use Open system
mode, the connection between it with our NWH2210 WEC is
invalid. We strong recommend you to use "Auto Switch
mode" for NWH2210. In Auto Switch mode, the NWH2210
will try Open system mode first; if failed, it will auto-switch
to Share key.
