SUBJECT:

The indoor Access Point’s radio coverage is very poor.

QUESTION:

I used site-survey to scan the AP indoors but found that the coverage is very poor.

ANSWER:

1. Antenna position and type will also greatly affect the signal strength. Depend on the polarization of the antenna, the radio wave will propagate horizontally or vertically, or both. Any combination of Access Point's and wireless adapter's antenna polarization can result in superior performance, or poor performance.

To achieve the best radio performance, the Access Point's and the wireless adapter's antenna should be placed to have the same horizontal polarization and be located at the same altitude.

Please try to adjust your Access Point's antenna and the location of wireless station.

2. The environment on which the wireless network is running can greatly hinder performance. For example:
- The partition of the office. (e.g. dry wall, partition walls, secondary or supporting framework, heavy machinery or generators)
- The material used for the partition. (e.g. concrete, heavy metal) The radio wave cannot penetrate the metal.
- The furniture used inside the office. (e.g. microwave ovens or high wattage transmitters) Metal ones will create very serious reflection and deflection.

Please place your Access Point away from any interference.
