SUBJECT:
Cannot configure the APs by using AP Management System
or NDC Management System, what should I do?
How to use SNMP Access Control?
QUESTION:
I’m having troubles with the AP Management System,
I can't connect to the APs, I did all the step for the
configuration, but I can not connect to any AP in the
network from my laptop or pc, and I can not use the WMS
either. Any help would be appreciated.
ANSWER:
1. To use AP Management System (APMS) or WMS (NDC
Management System) programs to configure/manage the APs,
please make sure the IP address of your APs are configured
with the same subnet as the one of your client PC, which
is used to run APMS or WMS, at first.
If you can use PING command to link the APs, you should
find/discover them by using APMS/WMS.
2. If you enabled the "SNMP Access Control"
function of the AP configuration, please make sure you
entered the IP address of your client PC used to run APMS
or WMS into the IP address field of SNMP Access Control.
The following is detailed description about SNMP Access
Control:
To open SNMP Access Control option from APMS or WMS
program, there is a control table. When the control table
is empty, it means that there are no restrictions on who
can access and reconfigure the AP and any user may modify
the AP's operation. If the AP configuration should be
restricted to only those for whom it is necessary, enter
the stations' IP address, community string and access
right (Read or Read/Write) in the control table. And,
the station is means *the client PC* you used to run APMS
or WMS programs to modify/manage the AP configuration.
