SUBJECT:
The connection to the ADSL modem is not able to be built
QUESTION:
I use a normal UTP cable to connect my NW660A and my
ADSL modem. The connection is not able to be built and
the Link LED is not lit.
ANSWER:
On the current market, there are two kinds of broadband
modems. One is cable modem, and the other is ADSL modem.
According to our testing, we must use an X-over (cross-over)
UTP cable to connect to the ADSL modem, compared to the
normal UTP cable for connecting to the cable modem.
The broadband modems we have tested are as follows:
[cable modem]
SOHOware CableSTAR NCS200 - using the normal cable
Motorola CyberSURFR Wave Modem - using the normal cable
(PC: MMLN3100B Rev: A)
[ADSL modem]
Cisco 676 - using the X-over cable
ZyXEL Prestige 642M-12 - using the X-over cable
(CHT G.Lite ADSL modem)
